Logan County Historical Society May Meeting-
Members, friends, and guests of the Logan County Historical Society are invited to meet at Christ United Methodist Church in Sterling, Colorado, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024. Long-time teacher in Sterling schools, Justin Weber, will present, in question and answer format, a summary of his many years when he taught school and coached P.E.: 1 year at Peetz, 4 years at Atwood, 19 years at Sexson Elementary School, and 11 years at Franklin Elementary School, a total of 35 years. Justin has a vivid memory and can recount numerous names of the students, fellow faculty members, principals, funny events, and the wonderful times he experienced at the four schools. You will want to hear him re-tell of his years in education when he was involved with hundreds of boys and girls everyday.
For those who attended the school at Atwood, Colorado, we have multiple slides from four school annuals, including pictures of students and staff. Please let those who attended Atwood schools know about this program.
In addition, please inform those who attended either Sexson or Franklin Elementary Schools about this program.
Two other items on the program's agenda: To begin the evening, we will explore how school consolidation played out across Logan County, and finally we will end with pictures and the story of a Sterling school that was almost destroyed decades ago.
Please join us on Monday evening, May 13, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome.
