History Cafe- WPA 2025
The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was a New Deal agency created in 1935 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide jobs to millions of unemployed people during the Great Depression. Its main goal was to employ as many people as possible on public works projects that would benefit the community long-term, such as building roads, schools, and parks, but it also funded white-collar projects for artists, writers, and musicians.
