History Cafe January 2026 - America 250 / Colorado 150 commemoration.
The Overland Trail Museum will kick off the 2026 History Café season with a special year-long series celebrating the 2026 America 250 / Colorado 150 commemoration.
Titled Echoes of Colorado ~ The Moments That Made Us, this series will explore the people, events, and decisions that shaped our state.
The season begins on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with an overview of how Colorado became the 38th state. Guests will enjoy fun facts and fascinating stories from Colorado’s early years—including the surprising truth that the first four attempts at statehood during the 1860s failed, each facing challenges rooted in politics and power.
History Café is a monthly program offering an informal and welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy history alongside fresh muffins and coffee. We hope you will join us.

When making your reservation, please let museum staff know if you have any mobility concerns and would like assistance from the parking lot to the High Plains Education Center. We are happy to assist you with transportation via our golf cart.
