Temporary Custodian
Campbell Elementary School
40 hours/week; length of assignment to be determined but anticipated to be through fall/winter 2020
$12.20/hour

Job Goal:
To give students and staff a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient environment in which staff may teach and students may learn, play and develop.
Essential Functions:  Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Follow program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair as established by the Head Custodian.
  2. Sweep classrooms daily and dust furniture.
  3. Clean hallways after school each day and during the day when condition requires it.
  4. Keep all floors in a clean, attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
  5. Scrub, hose down and disinfect restroom floors daily and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
  6. Wash all windows inside and outside as scheduled by the Head Custodian and as needed.
  7. Perform grounds keeping duties such as disposing of rubbish, grass cutting, tree trimming, etc.
  8. Clean all white boards and/or chalkboards a minimum of once a week.
  9. Remain on school premises during school hours and/or during non-school hours as assigned for scheduled events assuming responsibility for opening/closing the building, ensuring all doors and windows are secured, non-security lights are off and security system is active upon departure.
  10. Move furniture or equipment within the premises as required for various activities as directed by the Head Custodian and/or Building Administrator.
  11. Be familiar with MSDS guidelines for products used in performing job duties.
  12. Assist in regular maintenance and repair work as directed; promptly notify the Head Custodian regarding damage and/or possible need for major or emergency repairs.
  13. Assist as directed to maintain the building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas reporting safety concerns as appropriate.
  14. Be familiar with the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and understand the custodial role in responding to various incidents.
  15. May be assigned to raise the United States flag before/after school.
  16. Accurately enter time and leave requests into the payroll system in a timely manner.
  17. Participate in the evaluation process.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Prefer experience as a school custodian or the equivalent in institutional custodial services.
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position may supervise Sweepers.
Essential Functions:  Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Contact and communication with a variety of individuals including staff, students and co-workers.  May experience last minute changes for room setup, etc., disrupting normal work schedule. May be assigned to custodial coverage of the physical plant during non-school hours or scheduled school breaks and weekends for heat checks, emergencies and all activities beyond the school day.  May assist in clearing sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps during winter weather conditions by plowing, shoveling or sanding as directed.
