Before marking that November 5th ballot, the public is invited to participate in an informal informational Election Forum, Wednesday, October 16, 6:30 p.m. at the Sterling Public Library. This is an opportunity to meet Sterling City Council candidates, new RE #1 Valley Board of Education directors; and, spend some time learning more about City and State ballot initiatives.
On the Agenda
• Sterling City Council candidates: Mayor - Dave Appelhans, Ward I - Mike Anderson, Ward II - Mandy Ritter vs. Ryan Virgil, Ward Ill - Kelly Blecha vs. Luke Janes.
• RE #1 Valley Board of Education - new board members: District 2- Ronda Monheiser, District 3 - Jodene Boerner, District 7 - Jill Brownell.
All candidates and new board members are invited to attend and speak.
Ballot Question 2F - City of Sterling proposed wastewater bond - City Manager Don Saling
State Ballot Issues: Colorado Fiscal Institute
• Proposition CC-would require any money the state government keeps over its existing revenue limit be spent for public schools, higher education and transportation projects rather than refunded to taxpayers.
• Proposition DD - Legalization and taxation of sports betting to fund water projects and obligations.
